Wooroloo Fire February 2021

The Perth Hills bushfire started in Wooroloo on Monday 1st February 2021, burning through more than 11,000 hectares and destroying 86 properties.
Yallingup Rural’s 3 x 4 truck motored to Gidgegannup on Tuesday 2nd with two brigade members on board. They were deployed on asset protection during the height of the blaze. They returned on Saturday 6th, having been relieved by two more brigade members from Yallingup Rural who had set off Friday 5th.

The relief crew were on the fire ground on Saturday 6th when a heavy rainfall mercifully assisted the efforts to contain the fire. They remained in asset protection mode for part of the day as well as ranging over the whole area of devastation, Gidgegannup and beyond, visiting and assisting residents, some of whom were highly distraught on returning to their damaged or destroyed homes.
