Standard Operation Procedure on Fire Call

AT  FIRE CALL

  • Open all doors
  • Put on protective clothing
  • Remove battery changers
  • POWERT – procedure
  • Drivers to enter date and odometer reading in each
  • Vehicle’s log book
  • Start vehicles
  • Check personnel numbers allocated to vehicles:
  • Light tanker MUST have crew of 2 only
  • 4.4 min 3 max 6
  • 3.4 min 3 max 6
  • Determine CODE
    • Usually code 1 unless advised otherwise:
    • CODE 1 lights and sirens
    • CODE 2 no lights or sirens
  • Lock station before leaving
  • Proceed to fire
  • Immediately after leaving station do inter truck radio
  • check and FCO radio check
  • Fill in T card with crew names on the way

AFTER FIRE – before leaving fire ground

  • Check all personal present or accounted for
  • Refill water tanks and fuel then return to station
  • Check equipment and refuel pumps and drinking water
  • Driver completes log book and reports any damage
  • Officer in Charge to complete fire report
